Everyone deserves a place where they feel like they belong. But for many neurodivergent adults, finding that place hasn't always been easy. Traditional day programs serve an important purpose, but not everyone is looking for a structured program to fill their days. Sometimes, what neurodivergent adults are looking for is much simpler: opportunities to meet new people and make friends, the ability to choose how they spend their time, and somewhere they can just show up and be themselves.
That's why we created The Spaut.

More Than Just a
Place to Hang Out!
One day it's a tropical luau. Another, an indoor picnic complete with a tree, picnic blankets, and all the fixings. From Halloween parties to Friendsgiving celebrations, we love transforming The Spaut into something unexpected and giving our members new experiences to enjoy together.

At The Spaut, stimming is normal. Feeling shy is acceptable. And there is always someone ready to welcome you into the group.
Located in Citrus Heights, The Spaut is a social recreation center where adults with mild intellectual and developmental disabilities can connect, discover new activities, and build friendships with peers who share their interests and experiences.
Much like any other community gathering space, members are free to come and go as they please, without a required daily schedule or assigned activities. They might spend an afternoon playing video games, challenging friends to board games, working on puzzles, or catching a movie.
For those who love getting creative, there's painting, arts and crafts, and opportunities to design and make custom T-shirts and other projects using our Cricut equipment. And sometimes, the best part of the day is simply hanging out, sharing a laugh, and enjoying good company. There's no single way to experience The Spaut. Members make it their own.
It's a different kind of space for people looking for a different kind of experience. A place to find your people, have some fun, and feel right at home.
*The Spaut is a social recreation center, not a day program. Our open-access environment allows members to move freely throughout the space and come and go as they please, without continuous individual supervision. While everyone is welcome to apply, this unique setting may not meet every individual's support and safety needs. We consider each prospective member's circumstances individually, including reasonable accommodations, to determine whether The Spaut is an appropriate setting.
